Serving Brantford / Simcoe / Kitchener Area

Purpose:

Blue Knights International Web SiteWelcome to the Blue Knights Ontario VI Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club.  We form part of the Great Lakes Regional Conference which encompasses 7 US States / Canadian Provinces. We are located in the Kitchener / Brantford / Simcoe area servicing South Western Ontario Canada. The Blue Knights are a non profit, International fraternal organization, consisting of law enforcement officers and their families who are motorcycle enthusiasts. For the most part, any police officer or law enforcement officer can join the Blue Knights.  You do not have to be a motor-officer or ride a motorcycle while on duty to join.  You can fight crime all day in plain clothes if you like and still enjoy the friendship of other Blue Knights.  From Constable to Chief of Police, we are all the same enjoying motorcycles, friendship and camaraderie.

As a non profit organization, we frequently raise funds for charity. Of course, we ride our motorcycles to these events. We don't care what you ride, as long as you ride! On many occasions we visit other chapters and participate in their events.  See the entire list of Great Lakes Regional Conference chapter 'Events/Rides' page for a complete listing for many of the events that are hosted.

Ride safe this year folks...

Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Club Swap Meet

Each year we provide gate security from 20:00 hrs to 08:00 hrs in the morning.  This is our ONLY working event that will raise funds for our chapter to be used in part for our charitable donations in September.  Please plan to put your name down for at least one night shift or 6 hour part of a shift, so we can achieve our goal of having 4 officers each night.  Those of you have done this in the past know what fun we have.  Those that have never done this event, are missing out.  Let's see, didn't attend, should you have a say in where the funds go in September?

Ontario VI Chapter History:

George Wardell advised we started gathering with the Ontario I (London) Chapter in the early spring of 1979.   There was such an enthusiastic response, we realized that we had enough people from the Kitchener, Brantford, Paris and surrounding area to start our own chapter.  We applied for and received our Charter the same year!

There was a time when our membership was boosted to about 45 members.  There were events and rides and the line of motorcycles streamed for miles behind the Road Captain.   The camaraderie was great - the events were large and the Blue Knights were popular!

As time passed, the number of peace officers and other qualifying members, who rode motorcycles decreased for one reason or another.  The primary reason it appears is the tremendous increase in vehicle insurance and motorcycles have fallen out of grace.  Members retired and sold their machines, not to be replaced by younger members.

As of 2009 we have about 30 members and looking forward to greeting another 30 in the future.
